Home Farm is a new build 5-bedroom family home that works with the landscape, context and new building technologies. With the opportunity to occupy a beautiful site on Cambridgeshire farmland, the project is inspired by the qualities of its rural architecture and is conceived as 4 interconnected barn-like forms, each providing a different function.
The central vaulted entrance is conceived as a large open space connecting all the other spaces together under a bespoke timber roof structure, whilst soaking in the private views across the landscape through front and rear courtyards.
The building is designed to passivhaus standards, working with highly efficient insulation and heating systems, and the careful placement of windows that avoid overheating in the summer. It is designed to run on 90% less energy than typical houses of the same size.
