Before After

This stunning grade 2 listed former threshing barn had been unloved for some time. We were tasked with restoring and adapting the 300 year old timber frame into a new home which maintained the expression of the beautiful timber structure on the interior and kept the buildings character externally.

The home has a combination of warm private rooms and stunning double height areas where the old timbers can be experienced. The project connects to the garden through new windows and doors, carefully placed within the existing structure.

During the painstaking build, the roof and cladding was completely stripped, allowing a continuous layer of low-energy insulation to cover the structure. Almost 6000 clay peg tiles were reclaimed and reused on the extensive roof, ensuring that the historic character was not lost whilst upgrading the building for modern, low-energy living.
