Working with an incredible mix of materials and architectural styles, Leylands is an expansive, historic arts and crafts home in the Surrey Hills area of outstanding natural beauty. Undertaking a full refurbishment and extension we provided a series of bespoke high-end spaces fit for modern living. With its subtle form and material choices, the extension ties into the brick edges of the historic building referencing the historic chimney stacks and gables that provide so much of its character.
The buildings form is shaped around a bronze feature fireplace, orientated to the garden in a manner which allows key views through picture windows and a high-performance glass wall.
The living room seamlessly opens up to the new outdoor terrace through the large pocket sliding glass doors, centred on the beautiful historic gardens and courtyards, blurring boundaries between home and garden and bringing the outside-in.
